A new market was launched a couple of weeks ago in Hout Bay. Yes I know there are new markets opening all the time since our all beloved Biscuit Mill started. But this one really got me.
I was there first time last Sunday, after 3 people told me within 2 days how nice the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay is.
So we visited the place and it was a really pleasant experience. Next to the old fish factory, you first only recognized some strong fish smell..
Then you enter the hall of the market and you are about to explore a great mix of arts, food & drink and other stalls.
The mix of the stands is very well done. Foodwise you have a nice selection of choices. Also the other stands range from clothers to arts to cosmetics etc. The crowd there was very relaxed and as we were there quite early everybody was enjoying breakfast from a very food stall.
Here what they offer:
- Over 80 food, art and fashion stalls.
- Authentic indoor factory venue, right on the water’s edge.
- Roaring fire places and unique draught bar.
- Live music (and other entertainment).
- Ample, secure parking.
As much as I like the Old Biscuit Mill, as much do I hate it when it is totally overcrowded. Here in Hout Bay it had a much more neighbourhood feeling and was just nice. And they have started a night market in Fridays as well. Need to go there to check it out soon 😉
When: Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 4pm, as well as on Friday evenings from 4pm-9pm (from 8 July 2011).
Where to find: 31 Harbour Road, Hout Bay (next to Fish on the Rocks)
Go and check it out and let me know what you think about Cape Towns newest member of markets.
Did I miss anything? Ah yes. Leave your comments below.
