We have another Cape Town Blogger interview for you.
This time it is Chris and Lindsey Lautsbaugh with their blog and book www.nosuperheroes.com.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Chris and Lindsey Lautsbaugh live in Muizenberg, South Africa. They serve with Youth With a Mission (YWAM), teaching and training internationals to be missionaries and church leaders.
As leaders on the campus, they steward and guide ministries in and around Cape Town, reaching out to under privileged communities, planting churches, and meeting needs associated with the issues South Africa is facing.
They have been in missions for 35 combined years. They serve together with their two boys, Garett and Thabo.
How you first got involved in with blogging?
I began blogging as a way to spread the word about my book, Death of the Modern SuperHero:How Grace Breaks our Rules. Along the way, I found I really enjoyed the process and ability to connect with people around the world.
What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
There is a fair amount of Christian and leadership blogs out there. The most challenging part is getting people to be interested in what you have to say and showing how it might be a bit different than all the other voices.
Tell me about some of the people you’ve met while working on your blog?
I’ve met a lot of people who have a love for Africa in their hearts.
How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
Mine is a conversational, reflective, thought provoking style designed to cause people to pause and evaluate how they live
What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
I’m a public speaker and teacher in Christian circles, training young missionaries from around the world. And I do a lot of driving for my two kids and their school schedule!
How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog?
Most of my material comes from two places – my everyday life and observations ,and the books that I read
What’s the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?
How Lukewarm is Too Lukewarm. I review a book by popular Christian speaker Francis Chan. All Christians have heard the lukewarm message. I look at how that spins out, how God’s grace has to be bigger than our ability to to avoid lukewarmness
Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
Michael Hyatt, Laura Parker, Jon Acuff, Ben Reed – a combination of quality and sucess
If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
Start writing, start reflecting on things that come across your path, and start observing people and events. Blog ideas come like crazy when you “look” for the profound in everyday life
