Another week, another Cape Town Blogger interview. Read our Interview with Fiona Rossiter and see what the Super Mom Blog is about.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi I am a Fiona Rossiter the writer of Super Mom Blog.

I am a 39 year old Capetonian with a passion for all things beautiful and creative. I write an Inspirational Lifestyle blog called Super Mom Blog, featuring things from Fashion to Motherhood

I am a loving wife and mother to two wonderful girls! I love beautiful things and I am passionate about all I do. I am not the sort of person to do things in half measures; the word perfectionist comes to mind. Creativity inspires me and I am happiest when I am being creative. The thought of a life without travel is unthinkable. I am a style junkie and like to think that I have developed my own unique sense of style.

My passions to name but a few are: my family, art, food, design, music, photography, reading, travel, nature and much to my surprise writing! Oh and not to forget good wine!

How you first got involved in with blogging?
I started out blogging to fulfil a need to add a different dimension to my life, as a wife and a mother. I have always been a very creative, focused and extremely determined person but having a family tends to divide this focus and your priorities. You find you have less time to devote to the things that you are passionate about – don’t get me wrong I am very passionate about my family but one thing I learnt early on as a parent, is that you need to make time for yourself. So my blog essentially is my platform to share what I love doing most and give insight to my life as a mother.

What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
I do not blog on one specific topic which is possibly harder than finding a niche and only blogging about that, so I guess the most challenging thing is to always be up to date on the topics that I am blogging about whether it is on fashion or parenting.

How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
I think someone would describe my blogging style as conversational but informative at the same time. I also like to think that people would see the humour in some of my posts! {I am not that great when it comes to spelling or grammar but I am married to the elitist member of the grammar police}

What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
I am married to my best friend and I am a mom to two gorgeous girls, so they are an important part of my life and certainly keep me busy, but I find balance in my life by getting outdoors – I run for exercise and my sanity! I live in a beautiful part of Cape Town and love exploring my world with my camera in tow. I also love cooking and reading – these take up a fair amount of my spare time.

What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?
I would certainly love to do more networking with bloggers but with time being of the essence I find that social networking on Media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are an important part of staying connected with the outside world in general and my readers.

How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog?
I source a great deal of material on the internet but I also use other publications like magazines to do research and find interest topics and blogging ideas.

What’s your strategy with your blog in general?
My strategy in my blog is to create a Lifestyle magazine style platform – A place where lifestyle meets creativity! To deliver something that is both interesting to read and visually appealing to the reader. My aim is also to create an environment online that is inspiring to women of all ages {men are most welcome too!} and at the same time fulfilling my need to express my creativity to the world.

What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?
This is quite a difficult question because although I believe that content is the most important priority, you can have the best content but if you have no traffic or readers what is the point? So I think the key is getting the balance right!

What’s the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
I think the most important thing a blogger can give their readers is an interesting well designed and well written online journey, your content may not have to be 100% original but if you are engaging and offer your readers a complete package{something interesting, visually appealing and informative} which caters to all their needs, all the better.

What is the ultimate Goal for a blogger in your opinion?
In my opinion I think the ultimate goal for a blogger is to be recognised and appreciated by both his/her peers and readers and acknowledged for what they have achieved.

Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?
The plugin which I think is vital is the SEO by Yoast, I started using it a few months ago and I think it is the best SEO plugin I have used to date.

Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
Some of my favourite bloggers are: Nicole Warr from Diamonds and Dust; I love clothing, so fashion blogs are among my favourite and I especially love the vintage feel of her blog. I also love Elsie Larson from A Beautiful Mess; her blog is a melting pot of all the creative things I love {fashion, photography, décor etc.}. I love her blog design and her style of blogging. Another favourite of mine is Sarah Graham from A foodie lives here – a great blog for simple yet tasty recipes and a bit of foodie inspiration.
