As the first official Restaurant Week South Africa has ended, we’re proud to announce the winners of the Restaurant Week 2013 Awards for Best Restaurant and Best Dish:
– Winner Best Restaurant: Planet Restaurant at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town
– Winner Best Dish: Central One in Sandton
Planet Restaurant has been awarded Best Restaurant of Restaurant Week South Africa 2013 based on outstanding guest reviews. Diners have rated Planet Restaurant 8.4 for service, 8.5 for atmosphere and 9.0 for cuisine, resulting in the highest average of all 100 participating restaurants.
This award is presented by DiningCity, the world’s leading online dining guide.
Central One has been awarded Best Dish of Restaurant Week South Africa 2013 for chef Stuart Cason’s filleted baby chicken with butternut puree, braised lentils, tomato and shimenji mushrooms. Diners have voted this their favourite dish in the final online voting round, which also included the other nominees: Planet Restaurant and Bosman’s.
This award is presented by Master Menus, a simple but powerful application to create and maintain restaurant menus.
Buitenverwachting Restaurant in Cape Town has received an Honourable Mention for the outstanding Restaurant Week experience they’ve provided their guests. Buitenverwachting Restaurant has welcomed the most guests of all 100 participating restaurants and offered them an extremely exciting menu which included great dishes and many options.
