Calling all superheroes….. It’s almost time for this year’s Twilight Run

Twilight Run 2017

Entries are now open for the 35th Community Chest Twilight Run on Tuesday, 5 December 2017. Cape Town’s streets will, once again, come alive in a flurry of excitement and colour, as around 8 000 noble participants and spectators don the outfits of their favourite superhero, animal or mythical creature to take part in a 5km walk/run for charity. As always we are excited to see how your costumes reflect the cause you represent be it HIV/AIDS; Violence against women and children or Human Rights.

Accomplishing this feat of endurance for a good cause is a heroic undertaking that should be done in suitable attire and the Community Chest invites attendees to dress according to this year’s theme – ‘be the superhero in your community’. All profits from the event will be donated to charities that operate in the Community Chest’s key focus areas including Education, Health, Income Generation and Community Development. OLX Challenges Western Cape Companies to Volunteer for the World Habitat Day Team Build Week in Mfuleni Township

World Habitat Day takes place each year on the first Monday of October. This year, John Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International made a call for all Habitat for Humanity partners to “lift [their] voice, [their] hands and [their] prayers and help raise awareness for the great need for safe, affordable shelter”. OLX has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, acting on a shared vision to make the world a better place by building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. This partnership is particularly apt this year, as Habitat for Humanity SA celebrates its milestone 21st birthday.

Habitat for Humanity SA believes that everyone deserves a decent place to live. Adequate shelter is a critical foundation for the creation of improved opportunities, health and education in the country. With that in mind, Habitat for Humanity partners with communities, government, donors and the private sector to construct and improve shelter for South Africa’s low-income families through Volunteer Build Events.
