Camphors restaurant plans three wonderful winter dinners

26 June 2018

The Cape’s cold season is when many food and wine lovers enjoy indulging in leisurely culinary experiences – and a highlight will be three innovative, hyper-seasonal winter dinners at Camphors, the signature restaurant of 318-year-old Somerset West estate Vergelegen.

Camphors scooped not only sixth place overall in the latest Eat Out Mercedes Benz Restaurant Awards, but also took the Eat Out Woolworths Sustainability Award. The estate was named the first Biodiversity and Wine Initiative Champion in 2005 and remains renowned for its environmental initiatives.

The theme of the first, one-of-a-kind dinner, planned for Saturday 28 July, will be ‘Progression of our Food Source’. Executive Chef Michael Cooke says the dinner will incorporate influences such as Fair Trade, and how farmers and producers have risen to the challenge of supplying superb ingredients despite the drought and water restrictions. Bot River winemakers bull-ish about 2018 Barrels & Beards

Local is lekker at this most beloved wine and food get-together

21 April 2018

Run with the bull this year at none other than Bot River Barrels & Beards on Saturday, April 21, when – for the first time ever – this most majestic beast takes centre stage at a Cape winelands shindig like no other.

No, of course there won’t be any actual el-toro running in the Pamplonic sense (although the antics of the valley’s famously game winemakers may qualify). This whole shebang is an invitation to party, party, party; make new friends; celebrate the end of another bountiful grape harvest; and, do some good in the process. WHERE ELEGANCE MEETS THE OCEAN

Mediterranean Dining at Its Best

(Cape Town, South Africa) The V&A Waterfront’s yacht basin recently upgraded with a tasteful (in both the literal and figurative sense) addition to its five-star setting. Nestled beside the world renowned Two Oceans Aquarium, family owned Mediterranean Style restaurant, Vista Marina, is fast catching guests’ attention with its aromatic cuisine and unsurpassed location.

Dappled amongst an array of the country’s finest hotel’s like the Cape Grace, One & Only, Victoria and Alfred and Queen Victoria to name a few, Vista is by no argument in prime positioning. Overlooking the luxury yachts, Vista’s alfresco dining option, along with its vast indoor venue (reminiscent of the inside of a grand, modern luxury liner) both offer breakfast, lunch and dinner seating.
