DoggyDo is a free to download mobile phone application, which lists dog-friendly establishments, services and vendors across South Africa. DoggyDo’s handy geo-location function ensures dog owners have the most relevant and proximal options in the palm of their hands. The app also allows users to interact with other dogs and their humans in their area – actively supporting a more engaged and involved dog loving community in South Africa.

DoggyDo was launched in June 2015 by Shani Judes. After getting her Welsh Terrier, Bennett,  she struggled to find dog-friendly spaces and services in S.A. She decided to take matters into her own hands. Turns out she wasn’t the only one experiencing this problem. Just over a year later and the DoggyDo App has just attained its 12,000 download mark.

In South Africa, a country in which only games or banking apps see any reasonable download traction, 12,000 downloads for a niche listing-app is quite the impressive landmark. It highlights the interest and demand of the new breed of savvy South African dog owner. DoggyDo has become the platform that South Africans turn to for all things dog related.

The last few years has seen a shift in the attitudes of South African dog owners – from masters of animals in the yard to conscious, family-centric caregivers. With over 10,000 active app users, that’s 12,000 people engaging their time, effort and money on their fur babies and using DoggyDo to find dog friendly restaurants, accommodation, beaches and trails, shops, vets, groomers, pet sitters, dog walkers and more. As South Africa’s first and most comprehensive mobile app for dog owners, DoggyDo’s monumental growth has taken place organically, through word of mouth and through dog owners actively searching for a more dog-friendly lifestyle.

So what comes next? Shani explains, “With Summer well on its way we are starting to see a sharp increase in user trends – particularly in searches for dog-friendly accommodations and beaches. Dog-owners want to include their dogs more and more in their social experiences as the weather takes them outdoors.” DoggyDo is also proud to announce the arrival of Alice Lazarus on the team.  Alice has several years marketing and business development experience including 2 years as Brand Manager for BOS Ice Tea in the company’s infancy and 2 years as European Marketing Manager for

Alice has several years marketing and business development experience including 2 years as Brand Manager for BOS Ice Tea in the company’s infancy and 2 years as European Marketing Manager for international toy company, KidKraft. She describes her vision as, “I hope to grow DoggyDo to the point in which taking your dog along to places becomes the norm and not the exception. DoggyDo should serve as more of a social platform for the South African dog community, a means in which people become more engaged and educated about how to take care, clean after and train their dogs so that they are always a joy to have around and never a nuisance.”
