Following rave reviews in Cape Town and London, students of the UCT Opera School are set to perform Mozart’s masterpiece, Don Giovanni, with a fun South African twist on 27 February 2016 at the Hope@PaulCluver amphitheatre.
Based on the legend of the world’s most famous seducer, Mozart’s classic has been compacted and reimagined in a modern setting, filled with all the comedy and melodrama of the original.
This is the first time that an opera will be performed as part of the Hope@PaulCluver Summer Festival programme.
Seated outside beneath the giant eucalyptus trees of the natural amphitheatre, ticket-holders should bring along blankets and cushions, as well as a jacket in case the weather gets chilly. Food and drinks will be on sale at the venue although ticket-holders are welcome to bring along their own picnics; however, own alcohol is not permitted. This production is not suitable for audience aged under 16.
Date: Saturday, 27 February 2016
Time: Gates open at 5pm. The show starts at 7pm
Tickets: R250 per person via Computicket
