Kymijoki River is a very versatile canoeing destination. The locals refer to Kymijoki River as the Amazon of Finland, and for good reason. The great main stream runs through a variety of landscapes in several branches. The deciduous trees on the banks extend far over the river in many places, creating a rainforest feel.  

If you want to go to the river now, you're in for a surprise. You'll see the rapids sparkling and the marshes peaceful. There are village landscapes and a bit of wilderness.
