Mit einer maximalen Tiefe von 124 m ist der Molvenosee der tiefste See, der vollständig auf Trentiner Boden liegt. Seine durchschnittliche Tiefe beträgt 47 m. Zudem ist der 4,5 km lange und 1,5 km breite Molvenosee der größte natürliche Alpensee über einer Meereshöhe von 800 m. In seinem Wasser, das verschiedene Farbschattierungen aufweist, spiegelt sich die umliegende Bergwelt der Brentagruppe sowie das Paganella-Massiv. Zahlreiche Bäche und Flüsse aus diesen Gebirgszügen münden in den von dichten Wäldern umgebenen See. Durch seine blau-grünen Farbnuancen scheinen Ufer und See zu verschmelzen. Die Schönheit dieses Sees wurde bereits vom Poeten Antonio Fogazzaro gepriesen, der ihn als "edlen Stein in noch edlerer Schatulle" bezeichnete. Seinen Namen erhielt der See vom Dorf Molveno. Dieser Hauptort am See liegt in malerischer Lage zwischen der Brentagruppe und dem Paganellagebirge. Quelle: Trentino.com
