A highlight awaits you even before the actual tour of the Predigtstuhl. The Predigtstuhl cable car takes you directly from Bad Reichenhall to the summit. The "grande dame", as the people of Reichenhall like to call her, has been in operation since 1928 and is therefore the oldest large cable car in the world that has been preserved in its original form. As it runs all year round between Bad Reichenhall and the Predigtstuhl, you can also use it to start your snowshoe hike on the Predigtstuhl.
From the mountain station you hike with a wonderful view over the Berchtesgadener Land to the Schlegelmulde. Depending on your physical condition, it takes about an hour to walk the 1.5 kilometres. If you feel like it, you can also extend the snowshoe hike and, for example, hike further to the summit cross of the Hochschlegel. The Schlegelmuldenalm will take care of your culinary needs. Regional and seasonal specialities await you there, which will strengthen you for further hikes.
Snowshoe hike to the Wittelsbach hunting lodge
The Berchtesgadener Land also has a lot to offer culturally. When snowshoeing in the region, a visit to Wimbach Castle is a must. The former hunting lodge of the Wittelsbach dynasty is a popular destination for excursions in both summer and winter, and thanks to the restaurant you can also enjoy some refreshments there in winter, depending on the snow conditions.
To get to the Wimbachschloss, it is best to start at the Wimbachbrücke car park. The road is clear as far as the Wimbachlehen farm, then you're off into the snow. A short stretch leads steeply uphill above the Wimbachklamm gorge. The gorge itself is not accessible in winter because of the danger to life. As soon as you have conquered the steep part of the trail, a beautiful view opens up over the snow-covered Wimbach valley. From there, the trail continues gently uphill and downhill to Wimbach Castle.
Snowshoe tour in Berchtesgaden National Park
If you want to experience pure nature, plan a snowshoe hike through the Berchtesgaden National Park. Plants and wild animals are at home there and always provide spectacular experiences on snowshoe tours. The 250-kilometre hiking network in the national park offers you a wide selection of different routes.
A beautiful snowshoe tour leads from the Wimbachbrücke via the Watzmann Alm to the Stubenalm. Since the Watzmann Alm is not open in winter, the Stubenalm will take care of your physical well-being. The view over the Ramsau valley and the mountain massif of the Hoher Göll is particularly impressive on this snowshoe tour. On the Rückweg you walk for a while on a route that ski tourers also like to use. To avoid conflicts, keep to the edge of the trail.

&By the way: The Berchtesgadener Land is considered very snow-sure. As it stretches over altitudes from 700 metres to 2,941 metres above sea level, the higher regions in particular are covered in snow in winter from December to April and are therefore suitable for winter sports of all kinds.
