The Vienna High Mountain Trail runs between the Iselsberg near the Alpine town of Lienz and the Glocknerhaus at the foot of Austria's highest mountain through a unique high mountain landscape characterised by rugged peaks, steep cirques and deep blue mountain lakes.

Under the spell of the Schareck, Ankogel and Hochalmspitze, this eight-day hut tour leads through the fascinating mountain world of the eastern Hohe Tauern. Gentle grassy slopes alternate with steep scree and rubble flanks, wide boulder fields and narrow ridges. In between are picturesque mountain lakes and wild waterfalls that plunge thunderously into the depths. The result is an entertaining, extremely panoramic tour that leads to the easternmost three-thousand metre peak in the Alps, the Großer Hafner.
