In addition to its environmental value, Domaine de Deva is a historical jewel in New Caledonia’s heritage crown. To honour this, a magnificent traditional hut was built at the Domaine's entrance in 2014.
The historical value of the Domaine de Deva is clear from the remains from the Kanak revolt led by High Chief Atai in 1878, along with Lapita archaeological sites dating from around 3000 BC. To underline the Domaine’s historical importance, a large traditional hut was built at the entrance for symbolic purposes, opposite the tourist information office. Completed in 2014, this majestic hut decorated with impressive sculptures can be used by tribal leaders to perform customary ceremonies.

The domain may be closed if the risk of fire is too great, but access to the hut remains open throughout the year.
