EInstieg in die Kraterwanderung, Wanderung nach Grand Place Vom Bergsteigerdorf Hell Bourg mit dem Bus nach Le Belier, von dort hoch zum Kraterrand, dann Abstieg in das Herz des Cirque du Mafate. Nach einigen Kilometern Anstieg auf das Plateau mit dem Örtchen Grand - Place. Dort erste Übernachtung in einer kreolischen Berghütte. Trotz der nicht allzu langen Strecke, ist dieser "Einstieg" nicht zu unterschätzen: Höhenmeter und Beschaffenheit des Trails fordern Kraft und Ausdauer.
