Santuari de Lluc
A 20 km long road leads from Pollença to the Santuari de Lluc. Pilgrims once said their silent prayers here, today visitors can experience this sanctuary along with accommodation and shopping facilities, a botanical garden and an information office. The highlight of the extensive complex is the magnificent sanctuary with the famous Marian statue Mare de Déu de Lluc, the patron saint of Mallorca. The origins of the sanctuary date back to the 13th century. At that time there was a chapel here, which King Jaume I initially had extended into a hermitage. The extensive construction of the church with its magnificent altar was completed at the end of the 17th century.
