Why not try your hand at bikepacking? The idea is to equip your bike or hire one specially designed for a light adventure! All you need is a bike, a few panniers and a thirst for discovery, and all you have to do is discover the exceptional playground offered by the Anjou region by following the rivers.
Leaving from Angers, set off on a cycling adventure and discover an exceptional playground in the heart of the Basses vallées angevines. 109km of exploration, over 2 or 3 days, promising new sensations and the chance to share.
Not to be missed on the way:
- Contemplating the panorama over the Maine and the historic heart of Angers
- Ride along Ile Saint-Aubin, the island formed by the Vieille Maine, the Sarthe and the Mayenne
- Follow the Vélo Francette and the banks of the Mayenne, the perfect setting for a lunch break
- The lock and dam at La Roussière, an old passageway for barges
- The Château du Plessis-Bourré, preserved in a natural setting and surrounded by a moat
- Take a break at the guinguette Le Kiviv on the banks of the river Sarthe
- Walk along the banks of the Loir and take the Montreuil-sur-Loir ferry across the Loir
- Discover the Boudré forest and the Château du Verger
- Take a refreshing dip in the Loir at Villevêque
- Visit theEngrenage-moulin in Villevêque, where you can see how electricity was generated by a water mill
- Explore the gravel paths with poplar plantations, alluvial meadows and Natura 2000 wetlands typical of the Basses vallées angevines (Anjou low valleys).
- The Château à Motte in Verrières-en-Anjou, made entirely of wood and earth
- Cross the Ardoisières park, the former site of the famous Anjou slate quarry
- Follow part of the Anjou loop of the Loire by bike back to Angers
