The slate museum is a place to learn about the work of the region’s shale miners; a great place to discover the geology of region, the evolution of quarrying over 600 years, the daily life of slate workers and the landscapes they created.

Le Petit Anjou was a departmental train plowed Maine et Loire from 1893 to 1948. The Association of Friends of Petit Anjou was given the task to save memory and restore its vehicles.

Marc Massot, a qualified sommelier and winner of the wine tasting grand prix in 1996, welcomes tou ti his sommelier museum in Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire ! Come and learn about the history of serving water, wine, and other drinks.

Come and visit or re-visit the Musée Pincé which is open again after a 15-year closure. The museum is an invitation to far-away lands, thanks to a number of fascinating collections donated to the museum.

You will discover on three levels dynamic scenographies, images, objects and documents of times that will allow you to trace the religious and social history.

Since 1984, the restored abbey-church of All Saints (dating from the 13th Century) has housed the works of David d'Angers (1788-1856) including sculptures, commissioned work (the façade of the Pantheon), a gallery of contemporary busts (Balzac, Hugo, and others) and much more.

The museum is located within two charming buildings (19th Century) on rue Jules Guitton. It is a great place to discover the extraordinary diversity of fossils found throughout the Angers Loire Valley, many of them dating back hundreds of millions of years. Moving forward to the near/present day, you will also be nose-to-beak with multi-coloured parrots and many species of birds that are found in Maine-et-Loire.

The museum offers two permanent exhibitions: the "Beaux-arts du XIVe au XXIe siècle" (fine art from the 14th - 21st Century, paintings and sculptures) and "Histoire d'Angers", (the history of Angers, archaeology and art objects from the Neolithic period to the present day). A link between the past and the present, it also provides the opportunity to view temporary art and heritage exhibitions. The museum conducts guided tours, writing workshops, student nights and stages many special events.
