Heading towards Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, cyclists will climb the hillside via the Moutière pass, with one of the most beautiful scenery in the metropolis for those who love larch forests and the desert landscapes of the high mountains. But beware, a gravel section allows you to reach the road to La Bonette! In perfect condition all the same.
Be also careful : The services of the Métropole roads clear the road to the Moutière pass later than the Bonette road, so it will be better to inquire before leaving. The return to Saint-Etienne is by the fast descent of the pass by road in the direction of the hamlet of Bousieyas, located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park.

Turn-by-turn directions
The start sign is at the end of the bridge over the River Tinée, at the junction with the Route de Saint-Dalmas and Boulevard Maurice Rovery. This is where the ascent to the Col de la Bonette begins. From this point, head towards the Col on the RM 2205 until you reach Km 4, at a place called Pont-Haut, which crosses the Tinée. At the end of the bridge, turn left onto the RM 63 towards Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage. When you reach Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, the road leads under the village to a small bridge on the left that crosses a small stream(Km 7.5). A single hikers' sign points the way to the Gialorgues - Estenc refuge and pass. Take this small, steeply graded road, with virtually no cars. At first, the road winds under the trees, before giving way to high mountain scenery. At times, the gradient is around 13-16%. The Col de la Moutière is at Km 18.5. From the summit, a very short descent takes you to the road to the cime de la Bonette, where you must take an unsurfaced path on the right(Km 19.2) for 3 km, quite doable with normal tyres and a ropute bike, the gradient is 10%. Once you reach the road(Faux col de Restefond - Km 22.5) on the Jausiers side, turn right towards the Cime de la Bonette (Km 26.8 ). After a well-deserved rest at the summit, take the direct descent with care towards Saint-Etienne de Tinée on the RM 64 and then to Pont-Haut on the RM 2205.
