Sophienalpe, Hadersfeld and Kahlenberg - Vienna Woods road bike tour
Road bike tour with three beautiful climbs in the northern Vienna Woods
Road bike fans get their money's worth in the Vienna Woods. A dense network of roads and side roads with little traffic, crisp but also leisurely passages and undulating sections are the ingredients that make road cycling so enjoyable here. This tour combines three of the most beautiful climbs in the northern Vienna Woods. In addition to the almost traffic-free ascent to the Sophienalpe and the classic ascent to Hadersfeld, the final section leads up to the Kahlenberg on paved roads, where you can enjoy a fantastic view of Vienna.

Turn-by-turn directions
We start in front of Schönbrunn Palace and cycle along the Wiental cycle path to Hütteldorf. Now we follow the road to Mauerbach, where the ascent to the Sophienalpe begins (refreshments available). The route continues undulating to Scheiblingstein, shortly after which we turn right and then immediately left again. Now it's downhill to St. Andrä-Wördern, where you can take a break at the Eisfux. Shortly afterwards, the ascent to Hadersfeld begins, followed by a descent to beautiful Klosterneuburg. Here you can take another break. After crossing the town, the last climb of the tour follows on cobblestones up the Kahlenberg. The descent takes us back to Vienna and we roll comfortably back to the starting point in front of Schönbrunn Palace.
