Easy gravel tour through the beautiful Lobau, part of the Donauauen National Park, starting at the Praterstern in the centre of Vienna.
Beautiful gravel bike tour through the Lobau. After an easy roll-in on tarmac cycle paths through the Prater and on the Danube Island, beautiful, gravelled paths follow in the Lobau. The Lobau is part of the Donauauen National Park and impresses with its marvellous alluvial forests and waters. The route is quite easy to cycle due to the lack of metres in altitude and is an absolute gravel pleasure tour. However, the tour is of course also fun on a trekking or mountain bike. The tour can also be easily shortened in several places. The entire route is almost traffic-free from the starting point, which further enhances the relaxed character of the tour.

Turn-by-turn directions
We start at Praterstern and follow the main avenue to the motorway bridge, where we turn left. We cross the bridge onto the Danube Island and stay there for about three kilometres until we reach the National Park House. Now we follow the signposts towards Essling and stay on this path until we reach a crossroads. There we turn right onto the tarmac road and follow it until we reach the Vorwerk housing estate. Immediately afterwards, we turn left and cycle along the oil depot back to the Danube Island. You can return to the Prater along the same route or on the other bank of the New Danube.
