Hiking trails in Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes

This looped trail to the mountain ridges offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Alps, including Mont Blanc, as well as Lake Geneva and the Jura mountains.

From Artemare to the heights of Belmont Luthézieu to discover the secrets of the Seran river.To discover along the way: the Thurignin Gorges, the Cerveyrieu waterfall and the Massignieu wine-growing hills; beautiful views, particularly of the Grand Colombier Massif.

Departure is along the Gardon at the entrance to Vareilles. The heritage trail explains the history of the area, right up to the blue lake. The trail continues to the remains of the castle and the medieval village of Saint Germain. A must for the whole family!

The attractions of the routeThe Glay quarries, whose imposing working face stands like a raw fresco in homage to the work of the quarry workers and the thousand-year-old origins of golden stone.

In the rich cereal plain of Limagne, the Val de Morge offers a fresh and relaxing stroll along the water.  The path is punctuated with adobe frames, old mills and panoramas of the Puys range and the Tournoël castle.

A nice circuit passing from lake to lake, leading you up to the high mountains in 2 days, with the bonus of a breathtaking and original view over the Barre des Ecrins, the only mountains over 4000 m in the southern Alps (4102m).
