The 2013 Col’Cacchio pizzeria Celebrity Chef Series enters its second month in June with David Grier’s delicious taste of India.  His Ghanchaka pizza combines an Indian spiced mash potato base, immersed silken chicken tikka, spring onion, fresh coriander and chopped pineapple chilli salsa, served with mint and coriander yoghurt.

David Grier is well known as one of South Africa, and the world’s, leading extreme adventurers.  His most famous expeditions include completing the first joint run of The Great Wall of China and the first solo run through India, an amazing 4800km in 98 days.  Born into a Cape wine farming family, he started his career as a chef and opened a string of successful restaurants.  David lists food, wine and the outdoors as three of his passions in life.

This year we gave you the chance to become a Celebrity Chef and star in our online reality show. The pizza entries are in, so keep your eyes on to check out the top four contestants who earned a spot in SA’s first reality pizza showdown. You’ll get to see the whole thing on video and vote to decide the winner! Also stand to win tasty spot prizes including free Col’Cacchio pizza when you vote for your favourite contestant with a hash tag. First video to be released on 10th June. Watch this space!

R5 from the sale of each celebrity pizza is being donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust, fundraiser for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape.   This will go towards the building of South Africa’s first Childsafe Research and Educational Centre.
