Restaurant Week South Africa 2014 has come to an end. The second edition of this worldwide culinary event saw an exciting growth with 10,000 guests being welcomed at 125 of SA’s top restaurants! Buitenverwachting in Cape Town!
We are happy to announce that Buitenverwachting in Constantia, Cape Town, has been awarded the Food24 Award for Best Restaurant of Restaurant Week 2014! From all participating restaurants with more than 30 reviews, Buitenverwachting has received the highest rating from guests: 8.4 for food, 8.6 for service and 8.7 for atmosphere – an excellent 8.6 on average.
The Food Network Award for Best Dish of Restaurant Week 2014:
The Restaurant at Newton Johnson in Hermanus!
The Restaurant at Newton Johnson has been awarded the Food Network Award for Best Dish of Restaurant Week 2014 for chef Eric Bulpitt’s colourful organic vegetable salad with a selection of raw, pickled and charred vegetables and herbs. Diners were asked to share pictures of the dish that wowed them the most during Restaurant Week.
Out of the 50 submissions, 10 beautiful dishes were nominated and uploaded to Facebook, where The Restaurant at Newton Johnson received the most likes, followed by The Black Bamboo and Grande Provence.
The Durbanville Hills Restaurant in Cape Town!
The organisation wants to give an honorable mention to the management of The Durbanville Hills Restaurant, who have performed significantly better than last year with lots of promotion for their participation via social media, a vast increase in guests and many praising reviews.
