Restaurant Week, the much anticipated international culinary event, is confirmed to take place in South Africa from 24 October – 3 November 2013. The concept is simple: during Restaurant Week one has the chance to try out an exclusive menu for a special price in one of South Africa’s best restaurants – íf one is fast enough to book, that is.
Think of Restaurant Week as all winter specials squeezed into one festive week. During Restaurant Week, South Africa’s top restaurants will be offering an exclusive menu for a set price: only R95 for a 2-course lunch menu and R175 for a 3-course dinner menu. Great value for money and the perfect opportunity to try out that new restaurant you always wanted to visit!
Become a VIP
The number of seats is limited: the online booking system opens on 7 October at 8 P.M. sharp, meaning one needs to be quick in order to lay their hands on one of the seats in the nation’s finest restaurants. Luckily, diners are already offered the opportunity to skip the queue by registering on www.restaurantweek.co.za as a VIP, in order to get priority access to the booking system. VIPs are granted access one week prior to the general public, on 1 October.
Restaurant Week has been a success in many countries in Europe and Asia and is bound to win the hearts of South Africans too. The list of confirmed restaurants for Restaurant Week South Africa 2013 includes renowned venues such as Le Quartier Français, Planet at the Mount Nelson, Buitenverwachting and Grande Provence. The event is organised by DiningCity.co.za and supported by official partners American Express, Good Fellas, Master Menus, Peroni, SO WIFI, SAfm and the South African Chefs Association. Part of the revenue will be donated to the World Chefs Tour Against Hunger, a charity fund that feeds over 7,000 children daily across the country.
