BEAT AROUND THE BOSCHUNIQUE SPORT-TAINMENT EVENT AT STELLIES THAT YOU CAN JOIN: BEAT AROUND THE BOSCH UNITES RUNNERS AND MUSIC LOVERS THIS SPRING

Runners and music lovers unite at this year’s first combined sport and entertainment festival, Beat Around the Bosch, in Stellenbosch on Saturday 28 September 2013.

Beat Around the Bosch creates a fresh and unique approach to a running and entertainment event as the track will feature numerous live bands playing from six stages strategically placed around the 7.95km course plus a music festival at the finish. The original “sport-tainment” event will appeal to all types of runners and thousands of music lovers and spectators. The theme for this year is “70’s Retro” and participants are encouraged to dress-up with wigs and sporting gear from that decade.

The race, aimed at both serious and casual runners, starts at 2pm at Stellenbosch High School. The route is a scenic journey that winds through the historic town of finishing at Stellenbosch High School where ample parking is available on the school grounds ensuring plenty of space for family and spectators to cheer on participants.

“The 7.95km course is surrounded by historic buildings and wine farms, and the route features live music from local bands and artists. There is no winner as we have put the focus on joining and bringing diverse people together, thus creating many winners,” says Coll Macdonald of Invent, the event organiser.

Participants and spectators will experience every music genre from rock to classical; and pop to school choirs. The event will showcase local bands and musical groups, alongside more widely recognized artists.

The post-event Beat around the Bosch Village Festival will start as the first runners finish and end at 10pm. Guests will have access to the very best of Stellenbosch’s foods, wine and beers during the festival, as well as an array of top artists, including Arno Carstens and Gift Gwe, performing from the main stage.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Anna Foundation, a charity that supports and assists children from rural and farm communities.

Tickets are R120 for the race and R50 for a day pass and the music festival. Tickets can be purchased online at www.beataroundthebosch.co.za or www.topevents.co.za . Day passes can be purchased on the day of the event. Corporate Hospitality packages are also available.
