Cape Town & South African History Online

Cape Town Long Street

Cape Town Long Street

Just found this very informative website. The South African History Online (SAHO) is the largest independent non-partisan peoples’ history project in the country.

It was established in June 2000, as a non-profit Section 21 organisation, with the aim to address the biased manner in which the history and cultural heritage of South Africa (and Africa) has been represented in our educational and cultural institutions.

The most amazing part for me are the timelines and the places. There is a sub section that deals with the history of Cape Town. Have look at the old picture of Long Street.

Have a look at the site at http://www.sahistory.org.za and let me know what you think about it.

Celebrate National Women's Day with some Yoga

Celebrate National Women’s Day with some Yoga

Another public holiday is coming up: National Women’s Day on Thursday, 09 August 2012

In celebration of Women’s Day this year, Soul Food Co, Odyssey Magazine and Yo Yoga have teamed up to bring you a day full of yoga, healthy eating, introspection and a deeper understanding of yourself as a woman and the roles you play in our annual Women’s Wellness Workshop.

Very rarely do women have the opportunity to take time out to dedicate a full day to ourselves – to reconnect with our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Female entrepreneurs are taking Cape Town by storm and Soul Food Co. has been privy to bring together a group of these women to inspire you to harness your full potential and find out who you really are and what you want from life.<!–more–>

We are only accepting 30 women into the programme, so that personal attention can be devoted to each individual. This workshop is about enabling YOU to work on areas in your life that need focus – including self-confidence, personal obstacles, relationship issues, body image and self worth.

This Women’s Day, we hope to inspire women to assert their true worth and consciously realise how important they are in their own lives and those of everyone around them. If we can learn to respect ourselves as women, respect will be showered upon us by everyone we encounter.
