A challenge was issued by Pharma Dynamics to well-known cookbook author, Heleen Meyer and the Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) earlier this month. It was done in a bid to create wide-scale public awareness around nutrition and the importance of making heart-healthy diet choices. The Challenge was to turn the delicious, but unhealthy Gatsby – an oversized sandwich typically stuffed with hot chips, meat and spicy sauce – into a wholesome and nutritious, hunger-busting meal that is:
• Lower in fat, saturated fat and salt.
• Higher in fibre.
• An unforgettable first tasting impression – true to the original meal South Africans have come to love and enjoy.
Come see and taste the results for yourself! The event coincides with the start of National Nutrition Week (8 October) – everyone is invited to the V&A Waterfront at lunchtime to taste test SA’s first official heart-healthy Gatsby.
When: Tuesday, 8 October 2013
Where: V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre
Time: 12:00 noon
The event will provide ample visuals with Wayne McKay as MC. Gatsby connoisseurs of Cape Town, such as Super Fisheries, Golden Dish and Cosy Corner will rate the new more nutritious version. The tasting will also be open to the public.
