Filling the park with song on the 5th of February, in the 5th in the series of free Summer Concerts in De Waal Park, is the Afro-operatic pop sensation which has been described as “South Africa’s Il Divo”, “Pavarotti’s Children” and “the Diamond of the Township”, The Gugulethu Tenors!Their concert is as touching as their humble beginnings; their performance as spectacular as their rise to fame. It is a vocal feast that offers something for everyone – from opera favourites like Nessun Dorma and contemporary classics like You Raise Me Up, to South African favourites such as Meadowlands. Pata Pata and even Liefling, as well as their own moving compositions like O Afrika! and Nyamezela.
Young and old are invited to enjoy the Gugulethu Tenors’ performance in the bandstand Sunday the 5th. The performance will commence at 16h00, and entrance is free! Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive from 15h00, and bring their own picnics (no food or drinks will be for sale), chairs, sun umbrellas, rugs, etc. De Waal Park is located on Molteno Road with entrances on Molteno, Upper Orange and Camp Streets.
